Objects (clause 2.0)

The objects of the Association are as follows:

2.1 To promote the material, social and professional welfare of all teachers of Zimbabwe.

2.2 To promote the educational interests of all the people of Zimbabwe.

2.3 To engage in activities whose aim is the retention and promotion of those aspects of culture of the people of Zimbabwe that are considered worth preserving.

2.4 To co-operate with Zimbabwe's Ministries of Education in particular and the Zimbabwean Government in general, in promoting sound national educational policies and programs and the general welfare of the people.

2.5 To associate with and assist other organizations with similar objectives in Zimbabwe and other parts of the world.  

Decision Making Bodies

Clause 5.0 Organisation

National Level-National Conference ( clause 5.2)

The National Conference shall be the supreme body of the Association, made up of delegates from the Association's provinces and the Association National Executive.

Provincial Level-Provincial Annual General Meeting (PAGM) ( clause 5.10) 

Provincial Annual General Meetings shall be the decision making body of the Province; made up of delegates from the Association Branches and the Association Provincial Executive.

Branch-Level Branch Annual General Meetings (BAGM) ( clause 5.15)

Branch Annual General Meetings shall be the chief decision making body of the branch; made up of the delegates from schools, the branch members, and the Association Executive.

Time and Venue of BAGM (clause 5.10.2)

Branch Annual General Meetings shall be held in September or October annually . (clause 5.15.2.1)

The date and venue for the Branch Annual General meeting shall be decided by the Branch Executive. (clause 5.15.2.2)

Branch Extraordinary Meetings (clause 5.15.3)

Branch  extraordinary meetings may be convened by the Branch Executive and shall be convened if requested by at least half (1/2) of the schools in the Branch .( clause 5.15.4)  

Extracts on Business of BAGM (clause 5.15.4)

The Branch Annual General Meeting shall:

5.15.4.1 receive, review and approve reports including financial statements, from branch executive members.

5.15.4.2 decide on resolutions, issues, problems and recommendations from members and school representatives, for Provincial Annual General Meeting and send final resolutions in writing to the Provincial Secretary as in standing orders.

5.15.4.7 have power to oust or censure any Branch Executive member who is proved inadequate or for any proven misconduct.

5.15.4.12 elect branch officers and Branch Executive members

5.15.4.13 deal with educational matters affecting the branch

5.15.4.14 deal with any other matter consistent with the Association's aims and objectives.

5.15.4.15 elect delegates for provincial Annual General Meetings.
